Setting up location permissions correctly

Setting the location permission correctly is critical for proper distance tracking. This is the most common reason why distances are not recorded.

⚠️ Important: Enable "Always Allow"

The location permission must be set to "Always" (iOS) or "Allow all the time" (Android).

Why?

  • "While Using the App" means: The app only tracks when you have it open - nobody does that while cycling or walking
  • "Always" means: The app can record GPS points in the background

Setting on iPhone (iOS)

  1. Open the Settings app
  2. Scroll down and tap Apps
  3. Find and select the App
  4. Tap Location
  5. Select "Always"

Setting on Android

  1. Open the Settings app
  2. Go to Apps
  3. Tap "See all apps"
  4. Find and select the App
  5. Tap Permissions
  6. Tap Location
  7. Select "Allow all the time"

Common Mistakes

  • ❌ Location set to "Don't allow" - No tracking possible
  • ❌ Location set to "While using" - No background tracking
  • ✅ Location set to "Always" - Correct setting!
