Disabling battery optimization (Android)

Android smartphones have a battery optimization feature that can kill apps running in the background. This prevents distance tracking.

⚠️ Problem: App is killed in background

If you notice that your distances are cut off or not recorded at all, this is often due to battery optimization or power saving mode.

Solution: Disable Battery Optimization

  1. Open your smartphone's Settings
  2. Go to Apps
  3. Tap "See all apps"
  4. Select the App
  5. Tap Battery
  6. Select "Unrestricted"

Disable Power Saving Mode

Also check if Power Saving Mode is enabled and either disable it or add the app to exceptions.

Notes for Different Manufacturers

  • Samsung: Settings → Battery → Battery usage optimization → Select app → "Don't optimize"
  • Xiaomi: Settings → Apps → Manage apps → Select app → Enable Autostart
  • Huawei: Settings → Battery → App launch → Select app → Manage manually

Important: After disabling battery optimization, the app does not use more battery. It just prevents Android from automatically killing the app.
